The society of the sixth age is centered around the safety provided by the Cities, and for the Cities to survive they must rely on the Corporations. The Corporations of 2212 are responsible for providing both sustenance and security for almost all the peoples of New Earth. Thus, when Corporations war it is most often discrete and little of it is seen nor heard of by the masses. The burden of these wars most often falls on the heads of the Shadowrunners, SIN-less people whose disenfranchisement from the system makes them valuable assets to liability-shy Corporations looking for deniable assets.
